Ukraine - Radio ATO War Veterans

"Life after the War" is a weekly 25 minutes radio program on Saturday mornings on Ukrainian radio, aired from Kyiv across Ukraine.  It was created to reach the war veterans, members of their families, and the families of the soldiers who died in action defending the Independence of Ukraine, which became threatened with the russian invasion of Ukraine in March 2014.

The purpose of the program is to provide step-by-step advice on different problems experienced by the war veterans and their families.  Professional psychologists are invited to provide counselling on problems such as alcoholism, depression, drugs, aggression, future plans, reintegration into the work force, re-establishing relationships with their children and spouses, medical treatments, psychological and psychiatric rehabilitation, obtaining documents confirming their veterans status, and other topics as requested by the listeners.  Also, interviews with war veterans, who, despite their severe handicaps, have overcome the psychological and physical obstacles to continue their fight for life, constitute a valuable source of  information and a moral boost for those soldiers and their families who just recently returned from the war zone.

Unlike other radio shows where similar problems are discussed in general and compared to what is happening in other parts of the world, the "Life after the War" program addresses the concrete steps, which must be taken to solve a given problem.  Its approach is not philosophical.  It is practical.  The guest speakers literally take the listeners by the hand explaining to them where to obtain help, what to look for to identify a problem, and how best to react to solve a problem.

Due to the budget cuts imposed on all radio stations, the "Life after the War" radio program NEEDS your support to be broadcasted every Saturday morning.  For four months already, a team of professionals has been working on putting together this radio program.  Devotion is nice but they need our financial assistance to continue.  The ATO war veterans need this radio program and we appeal to 180 people to spare $1/day for 30 days to help raise 5,400 USD (or 233 people to raise 7,000 CDN) to allow this radio program to run for one year.
